Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

How was your week?? While last week was a super productive week, this week was a study on lazy… ’tis the season!

But here is what’s been going on, in the midst of all the lazy!

1. Another weekend, another birthday party! 🙂 That’s so much fun when you have kids – there’s always a birthday to go to. I love it!

Last weekend we had a party at the Durham Life & Science Museum. I love that place, and so does Elizabeth! While we were there we practiced walking. The stinker knows how to walk – she’ll take a couple steps, wait for the applause, then sit. But she does love holding hands and walking. And when she does that I just can’t believe how big she’s gotten!

2. My mom was so sweet to send 4 gifts for Elizabeth to open on each Advent evening. We missed the last weekend, so Elizabeth had to open two in one night. I made the mistake of letting her open the play nativity set, so she could have cared less about the second gift. Recapping the week on the Cup of Tea blog

3. It was a bad week for Katie and the body quirks. Not only do I currently have 3 zits on my face, but I found 3 grey hairs on my head…. grr…. Bad things come in 3, right? So there’s still one more to come.

4. And because of the grey hairs, I was “forced” to color my hair this week 🙂 Just a shade darker. Plus, I whacked about 6 inches off. I don’t know what got into me! I’ve always been a long hair girl, but medium length just felt right.

5. Last night, we went to Wake Forest with some friends for a sleigh ride and Santa visit! Elizabeth had to get on her warm weather gear, and she was pretty pleased.

The sleigh ride was delightful! And short. The horse drawn carriage literally went around the block! But it was fun, and a great way to get in the spirit!!  There was no Santa visit. The line was atrociously long… plus Elizabeth came without a hair bow, and her red shirt, while festive, was stained with her first try of ketchup. A perfect picture that does not make.Recapping the week on the Cup of Tea blog

Hope you have a delightful weekend!! Let me know what you were up to down below! (ooo that sounded so formal!)

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

I’m not ready for Friday…. I’m still mentally on Wednesday! But it has been an action packed few weeks! Can we catch up a little?

1. Since I neglected to say hi last Friday (still in a Thanksgiving food coma), I’ll just quickly say we had a lovely, but fast Thanksgiving. We drove up to my in laws on Wednesday, and drove back home Friday night. We all had obligations over the weekend, so Thanksgiving was cut short. But it was a delightful time!

I taught Elizabeth how to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade!

And she managed to see Santa – he waved at her.

We also went to the aquarium, which Elizabeth loves!

2. My big goal Sunday was to get the outdoor lights done. So I picked up some new lights (do you know how hard it is to find plain, white lights?) and got to work during nap time. I got one half of the house done when I ran out of lights. I used up 260 feet! So I quickly rearranged.

Dusk fell, and the lights kicked on. And I hated them. I don’t even have a picture to show you… they were LED cool white lights, so they looked blue.

So Monday I spent the day taken the LED lights down and putting regular white lights up instead. I was so glad to get it done, and it looks spiffy!

3. I mentioned Wednesday that I wasn’t feeling particularly festive or ready for Christmas… I tried to help that with two things. First, I wrote a post about my favorite Christmas Traditions! Head on over there and let me know what your favorite traditions are.

Second, Elizabeth and I headed out to the yard to snip various greenery. I had a little DIY decorating project I wanted to tackle. We had a nice time rolling her car through the yard!

4. Wednesday evening was so nice that we decided to head out on a neighborhood walk to look at the lights. We had a great time! And Elizabeth had fun pointing out the moon every step of the way.

5. Yesterday my goal was to get the tree up, and I managed to do that! Elizabeth just loves sitting at the base of the tree and staring up at the lights. Thankfully, I have a healthy supply of plastic ornaments, which I placed within her grasp. 🙂

*I just noticed that in every picture, Elizabeth looks bored… ha! Hope that doesn’t sum up her week!

So this weekend I’m pushing to get all the rest of the house decorated, and then get those storage bins and boxes put away. I can do it!!!

Hope you had a nice week, and have fun or relaxing plans for the weekend. Let me know what you’ll be up to down in the comments below!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Mercy me, it’s Friday already! The week just zoomed by!

First up, though, if you haven’t signed up for the Tis the Season Mug Swap yet, do it now! Caitlin at Coffee with Caitlin and I are hosting, and we are so excited!! You can sign up here.

And now, back to my week wrap up!

1. Since my husband was gone last week, I decided to take Elizabeth to visit my in-laws! I’m pretty lucky- there aren’t many people who would willing go visit their in-laws without their spouse. But they’re just such wonderful people, and I love watching Elizabeth interact with them. We crammed in quite a lot, but last Friday we went to Colonial Williamsburg (love!). We wrapped up the evening with pizza at Donatos! This made my Ohio heart sing. It’s the pizza of my childhood, and they’ve slowly migrated out of Columbus. I had to order my family’s old go-to pizza – mushrooms, black olives, green peppers and onions. I haven’t had this pizza for… years. A decade, maybe? I sent a pic to my sister, who wrote back immediately that she was jealous.

2. While we had a fun time in Virginia, the ride back to North Carolina wasn’t so great. Elizabeth had a back case of the icky diapers and diaper rash, so we had to stop twice for diaper changes. Then 30 minutes from the RDU airport to pick up hubby, she vomited. Ick! And then again before we got home. She had a fever for two days, and, thankfully, by Wednesday, she seemed to be on the mend. And the car seat will never be the same again.

3. I spent some time planning out Christmas presents! I’ve got some great ideas for some folks, and then zero inspiration for others. If you’re needing a little inspiration, check out my favorite mugs! (These would be perfect to send to your Mug Swap partner, if you’ve signed up!)

4. Wednesday I made a quick run to the Dollar Tree (my newest store obsession!) to see if they had particular craft supplies. On the way home I swung through the Starbucks drive through. I was getting irritated because it took forever to crawl to the window! Although, to be honest, it doesn’t take much to make me annoyed… #truestory. Anyway, I roll up to the window to pay and pick up my drink, and the Starbucks dude says my drink was already paid for by the car in front of me. Say what?? Awesome! I felt like a bit of a schmuck not doing the same for the person behind me, but next time I will! (Unless it’s a pick up for an office complex…)

5. Thursday night my husband’s department got tickets for the Duke vs. UNC football game! (Go Duke!) We froze our tails off, but it was so much fun, despite the fact that Duke got a whoopin’. I’ve missed watching college football.

This weekend the Big Eastern Coffee Championships will be in Durham. It sounds like tons of fun, so we’ll probably head out to that at some point!

So what were you up to? Let me know in the comments! Hope you have a great weekend! (And don’t forget to sign up for the Mug Swap! Deadline to sign up is November 24!)

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Woohoo! Friday!!

Just got a little ol’ recap of our week for you!

First up, though, if you haven’t signed up for the Tis the Season Mug Swap yet, do it now! Caitlin at Coffee with Caitlin and I are hosting, and we are so excited!! You can sign up here.

1. This week was definitely productive in terms of housework! I knocked a few things off my to do list, which always feels good.

2. Our weather here went from gorgeous and warm to overcast and cool. Before the weather turned, Elizabeth and I spent some time collecting leaves. She loved it!

IMG_6404.JPG

3. Things were a little quiet around here since my husband’s been gone to his conference. But Wednesday some friends and I got together for dinner. We were all flying solo with our kiddos, so it was nice to have dinner together.

4. There is another fun activity being cooked up with Caitlin, myself, Della at Della Devoted and Tif at Bright on a Budget. Stay tuned!!

5. Ive been praying and grieving for someone this week. You may have seen it. Someone we knew from our church when we lived in California lost his wife AND his baby boy, who was delivered at 24 weeks by emergency c section. You can read more here. But this has just been on my thoughts and in my prayers all week. If you have a moment, would you pray for Chris? Such a tragic loss!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday Friday Friday!!  Love it.  This week has been a great one, but phew! I’m tired.  I don’t know why…

I’m clearly getting old. Plus it’s raining right now. (Am I the only one that has achy bones when it’s raining?)

Recap time!

1. We were meant to be really busy last weekend with plenty of parties and activities, but they were all canceled or moved to another date. Which was a bummer, but ended up working out. I was sick, and Elizabeth seemed like she was at the beginning stages of a cold. So having a quiet weekend couldn’t have come at a better time! Saturday we decided, since it was an overcast, cool and windy day, to head to the Durham Life & Science Museum for an hour to walk around. They have a huge outdoor section, which is the best part. I love the dinosaur walk area!

2. Sunday we spontaneously went out to breakfast! If I could only go out to eat for one meal, it would be breakfast.

3. I am a politics junkie! So guess who was up late Tuesday, watching election results? This girl! It was a great night 😉

4. Wednesday I decided to take Elizabeth to a playground to play. I can’t wait for her to walk so this is more exciting! But she loved going down the slide. She squealed every time! We may need to incorporate that into our weekly activities. If you have a young toddler, what sorts of activities do you like to do? Ideas! Ideas!

5. I finished my last 30 Outfits in 30 Days recap yesterday! Tuesday I’ll be recapping all 30 outfits (stay tuned!). But yesterday, I celebrated being done with the challenge by wearing yoga pants.

Gah! There was a #6!!! What was it??

Oh well. This next week will be pretty boring. Hubby is gone all week to a Nephrology conference. So things will be pretty quiet on the home front. But it will give me a chance to watch all the weird stuff I want! Disney movies, the Royal Wedding (again… for the 30th time), home videos. Yes!

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!  Have a great weekend!
