Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Happy Friday!

I’ve been totally MIA this week… I promise to be back on the regular next week.

First, though, my sweet blogging friend Tif over at Bright on a Budget featured me for her Tour Around Blogland. So awesome! If you’re visiting from that, Hi! If you haven’t visited Bright on a Budget, go now! She always puts together great outfits using such affordable pieces!!

Anyway, it’s been quiet this week because we’ve been on vacation in Colorado!

Here are a few highlights from this week:

Cup of Tea at the Rocky Mountain National Park

We went to the Rocky Mountain National Park on Tuesday. Elizabeth and I continued the tradition of pictures by national park signs that my dad started oh so many years ago!

Beautiful mountains at the Rocky Mountain National Park

Beautiful scenery at the park! Leaves changing, crisp air, bright blue sky! Pictures just don’t do it justice.Visiting Focus on the Family with Cup of Tea

My favorite visit was to the Focus on the Family headquarters and a trip to the Adventures in Odyssey section! If you’ve never heard of Adventures in Odyssey, it’s a kid/family radio program that has been around since the late 80s. I love it! Still listen to it! You can catch up on episodes here. But, as you can see from the picture, I was the only one excited to be there.Great play area at Focus on the Family

They had a great kids play area that let Elizabeth get her wiggles out!!Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs

We also visited Garden of the Gods. It’s so beautiful.Air Force Academy Chapel

I have never visited the Air Force Academy campus before. I’ve only done a drive by before. So it was nice to actually see it all up close!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday! Yee-haw!

Here’s what we’ve been up to!

1. Our Labor Day weekend was such a fun time! We went up to Virginia Beach to visit my in laws, and then our little niece was dedicated. We also popped over to the beach on Monday. I tried sticking Elizabeth’s feet in the ocean again, since she seems to be enjoying water  more and more. She loved it! Next time, I’m going to have to put her in a bathing suit and a swim diaper.

2. I seemed to have a hard time getting back into the groove this week. I should have done a lot! But I feel like I haven’t really done anything. Grr.

3. I’m still creeping the Un-Fancy blog and am thinking darn hard about really streamlining my wardrobe and getting it down to the bare basics and absolute favorites. I chatted about this in my latest Favorites video. I’m also toying with the idea of using Stitch Fix. It looks like such fun, and I figure it will keep me out of stores and spontaneously buying things. Have you used Stitch Fix? Tell me what you thought!

4. Elizabeth has really started being funny! I mean she is doing things, purposefully, to be funny! It’s amazing. I wish I could keep a camera on her all the time. I want to savor all these little moments!

5. Today we’re headed down to the mall to spend some time with good friends (Sephora and C. Wonder are on the “visit” list!), and then we have a play date in the afternoon. Should be a busy day!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday Friday Friday!!  And an extra special one because it’s Labor Day weekend! (Right?? This is what happens when you aren’t working in an office, you loose track of holidays)

Hopefully you have fun weekend plans!

1. Last week, the husband came home with a spontaneous Google Chromebook purchase. Nice! I’ve been using it almost exclusively for blogging and consulting work, and it’s fabulous! It’s nice to sit at the kitchen table to do work. The chairs are MUCH more comfortable 🙂

As demonstrated, in action, from one of this week’s Instagram pics:

2. I mentioned in Wednesday’s post that I hit a bit of a rut, blog-wise. I still feel “ruttish” (new word. Claim it.), but think I figured out why. It feels like I’ve hit a wall with my Amateur Hour period and I need to step up my game. It feels intimidating.  I think that’s what’s causing the rut. It will hopefully shift from rut to motivation!

3. Elizabeth and I spent so much time LAUGHING this week! True belly laughs. She’s learned to clap, which is pretty cute! But she’s also learned to say “mamamamama” in a cranky voice. Sigh…. But back to the laughing. I’m not sure WHY this photo cracks me up, but I can’t stop laughing when I see it! Elizabeth’s face is so funny, and then there is Sophie the Giraffe, perfectly in focus!

4. We did a little reno on one of our front yard flower beds. And by “we”, I mean our lawn/landscaper guys did it. It looks awesome! All of our mulch around the entire house needed replaced because it had this CRAZY artillery fungus, and it was shooting little black spores all over our house and car! So while the mulch was being replaced, we decided to clean up a neglected bed. There are new roses, camellias, and azaleas. It looks so spiffy! (And am I the only one that loves the smell of fresh mulch?) In the Spring we’ll plant some more annuals, but for now, it’s nice.

5. Our 5 month old niece is getting dedicated this Sunday! So exciting! I love a good family gathering!!

So that’s it! A bit of a ramble today 🙂 My mind is everywhere!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday Friday Friday!!  Love it.  This week has been a great one, but phew! I’m tired.  I don’t know why…

I’m clearly getting old.

1. We finished season 2 of The Killing.  I feel like we really accomplished something 🙂

2. We went out for breakfast to my favorite diner this week! It’s my favorite meal to go out to eat for. Plus, going out to eat on a week day is so nice and quiet.

3. Project Playroom is almost complete! Our IKEA shelves arrived this week, and I got them all set up. My arms hurt. A blog post is coming! We just need to hang up some pictures!

4. This week has just flown by.  Has it for you?  I was also super productive with the housework!  But not so productive with blog stuff. It was pretty quiet, if you haven’t noticed…

5. We went to the pool yesterday with good friends.  Elizabeth was in heaven!  I had no idea she would like it so much.  Last week we were at a splash ground with similar surprising results. 🙂

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday Friday Friday!!  Love it.  This week has been a great one, but phew! I’m tired.  I don’t know why…

I’m clearly getting old.

1. Little Elizabeth turned 10 months old on Monday, and the villagers rejoiced!  She’s exploded so much with her new skills, it’s just been a hoot to watch!

2. The husband actually ASKED if I was interested in going out to eat…….. SHOCKED!!!!!! That never happens.  Normally I’m the one that asks, but he surprised me.  We went to Pompieri Pizza here in Durham.  Yum!  Hubs got the  BC Pie, which is a yummy mushroom based pizza.  Then I got a pizza of the day with roasted garlic, tomato chutney, and caramelized onions.  Delicious!

3. We are starting to turn our front room into a play room (blog post coming!).  So on Wednesday, Elizabeth and I took a trip down to Ikea in Charlotte.  It was quite the adventure 🙂  But we got quite a few fun items, including a tunnel!  Elizabeth loves it!!!

4. I’m almost done with my Garnier Volume Extend Dry Shampoo. I love it! I wash my hair at night, so by morning, when it’s time to style it, it needs a little extra oomph. This is lightweight, not sticky or gritty, and gives me great volume.  (Oh, a sneaky peak from the Old Navy bag in the corner!)

5. Yesterday I got together with my girlfriends and their little ones at a local park for a picnic and time at the splash ground. This place was amazing! We had such a good time. And my little girl, who still doesn’t really like baths, so enjoyed herself! Great times with babies giggling and good friends catching up. It was a great afternoon!
