Well folks, it’s my 30th Birthday today.  And I’m happy about it!

Here are my plans for today (and it’s the same EVERY single year in my adult life):

  • No cooking
  • A little shopping
  • Pumpkin pie for my “cake”

At 30, my life is settling into a sweet rhythm!  I’m really happy right now!  So if my 30s are like how my 30th birthday is starting, then it’s going to be an awesome decade!

Daily Schedule of a Stay at Home Mom

20140730-113526-41726979.jpg

I have always been a schedule-driven person.  Schedules keep me on task and it ensures that I keep productive throughout the day, because while I may be a schedule-driven person, I am also a closet Lazy Person.

So, when I transitioned to my new life as a Stay at Home Mom, I decided to make myself a schedule to make sure I didn’t forget any day to day tasks.  Besides being a mom and keeping a home, I also have blog responsibilities and work for clients (I’m a marketing consultant, doing work from home).

Sharing my schedule with you isn’t meant to be braggy.  I enjoy reading how other people schedule their days, and then I try do a little tweaking!  My schedule also isn’t to make it seem like I have it all together.  Trust me – this schedule doesn’t happen like this every single day.  This is what I HOPE happens every day.

Here’s an example of my typical day:

5:00am – Wake up and quiet time; Work on blog
6:30am – Breakfast with husband, clean up, then start to get ready for day
7:00am – Baby wakes up; Fix baby breakfast; Play time
8:30am – Bath time
9:00am – Baby’s first nap, then tackle more computer work
10:30am – Baby wakes up, do some housework with her
11:00am – Snack, then run errands
12:00pm – Lunch & Play time
1:00pm – Baby’s afternoon nap, tackle blog/work items
3:00pm – Baby wakes up & have snack; Tackle more housework
4:00pm – Prep dinner, husband comes home
4:30pm – Dinner time, then clean up
5:00pm – Baby play time
6:00pm – Get baby ready for bed
6:30pm – Baby in bed.  Go downstairs and pick up toys
7:00pm – Watch TV with husband
8:00pm – Shower
8:30pm – Tackle more client work (if needed)
9:30pm – Bed time!

It looks intense all written out. I promise it’s not!  Basically, when Elizabeth is up, I try to stay away from the computer and phone, and tackle housework only.  She loves coming around the house with me, starting laundry, vacuuming, and so on.  When she’s asleep, that’s when I work on the computer and finish either blog work or work for my clients.

I find that when I stick to the same routine every day, it flows well!  And by tackling a little housework each day, I don’t have one day where it feels overwhelming.

Do you stick to a schedule?  Even if you don’t stay at home like me, do you find that a schedule helps you stay on track?  Or are you a to-do list person instead?  Tell me all about it!

Menu Monday – Favorite Desserts Spotted on Pinterest

Favorite Recipes from Pinterest | Cup of Tea blog

So we’re currently galavanting around the Michigan countryside, so no need for our usual Menu Monday post.

Instead, I thought I would gather my favorite, drool-worthy dessert recipes from Pinterest.  I’ve made all of these myself, and can attest to the Yummy Factor of these recipes!

Homemade Hostess Cupcakes from BrownEyed Baker

Homemade Hostess Cupcakes – Recipe from Browneyedbaker.com

I made these cupcakes for the first time for an Olympics Opening Ceremony party.  There are MANY steps to this, but the payoff was absolutely delicious!  I’m definitely making these again the next time there’s an ‘Merica themed party!!

Mint Oreo Ice Cream Cake from Life, Love Sugar

Mint Oreo Brownie Ice Cream Cake – Recipe from lifeloveandsurgar.com

I was so intimidated when my husband said, for his birthday, he’d like a homemade ice cream cake!  I had never made one before.  When I found this recipe on Pinterest, I thought it looked easy enough.  So right!!  And the combo of brownie and Oreo was so yummy!

Buckeyes from Cooks Country

Homemade Buckeye Candies – From cookscountry.com

Unfortunately, like most Cook’s Illustrated & Cook’s Country recipes, you must be a “subscriber” to access them…. so obnoxious. This recipe is similar.  Anyway, these Buckeyes are so delicious!! I make a huge batch of these for the holidays, or when my husband wants a tasty treat.  I keep these in the freezer when it’s just us consuming them.  They’re actually really good frozen!  Plus, since  I’m from Ohio, these make my heart smile.

Martha Stewart's Angel Food Cake

Angel Food Cake – From Martha Stewart

I am a sucker for Angel Food Cake.  I love the light, airy texture.  Not to mention the fact that it’s fat free.  I make a simple sauce with strawberries, and drizzle over top of the cake.  I usually just make an angel food cake from a box (always a winner!) but decided to try a good ol’ Martha Stewart version, just for kicks.  It was fab!! Now, in a pinch, the box version works as an easy dessert!  But if you’re wanting to roll up your sleeves and make one from scratch, try this one!  (I didn’t make the elderberry sauce the recipe describes.  Please, Martha Stewart – where does one find elderberries when you don’t live in Maine?)

I’ll be back to the regular Menu Monday next week.  In the meantime, if you’re looking for other yummy dessert recipes, check out my Desserts Pinterest board!

30 Outfits 30 Days Challenge | Wrap Up

Style Challenge 30 Outfits in 30 Days | Cup of Tea blogView the other 30 Outfits 30 Days Challenge PostsIntroduction | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5

Here we are!  Recapping the last 30 day’s outfits for the 30 Outfits in 30 Days Challenge!  Can’t believe it’s over.  If you’re not sure what’s up, you can read more here.  But, long story short: I chose 30 items from my closet, and challenged myself to make 30 unique outfits for the next 30 days!

Thank you all for traveling along with me, sharing outfit suggestions, and offering words of encouragement!  This has been such fun, hasn’t it?

If you’d like to join me for a Fall Edition of 30 Outfits in 30 Days, mark your calendar for October!!  Details to come.

I thought it would be fun to do my usual recap, but thinking about the last 30 days!

Most Worn Item | If I was going on purely numbers, it would be the wedge stripes, at 12 wears!  But, to be fair, I had to wear shoes every day…. so most worn short sleeve shirt was my J Crew sleeveless tank (3 wears).  Most worn long sleeve shirt was my LOFT stripe shirt (5 wears).  Most worn bottom were the pink shorts (8 wears)!  Most worn outerwear (summer outwear, anyway) was the Target Navy Blazer (5 wears).  Most worn accessory were the striped wedges from Target (12 wears), followed closely by the flower necklace from Forever 21 (11 wears!).

Least Worn Item | I was SHOCKED to see it was my cream floral cardigan from Anthropologie.  I didn’t wear it AT ALL the entire 30 days.  I thought I wore that all the time!  Apparently not the case.  The cardigan was followed closely by the white t-shirt from Target and the striped dress from Old Navy with just 1 wear apiece.  Not too shocked about the white t shirt, but the striped dress!  Crazy.

Favorite Outfit | There are quite a few that I just loved!! But the official honor may need to go to Day 14.  I loved the pink shirt with the pink shorts.  The floral statement necklace looked great with it, and you could easily dress it up with the blazer and wedges, or keep it casual without the jacket and a pair of sandals.  Loved it!

Least Favorite Outfit | I don’t have an entire least favorite outfit.  Instead I have a least favorite item – it’s the chambray camp shirt.  I’m shocked I’m even saying this!  Even though it’s the exact same shirt as the gingham one, I just didn’t like it.  It didn’t look as nice on, it seemed kind of blah… maybe I need to buy a pair of patterned shorts and wear them together!

The Challenge Surprise | I think this is what a challenge like this is supposed to teach you, but I learned I can get by without so many clothes.  I already mentioned I didn’t even wear one item the entire 30 days! It taught me to be smart the next time I want to purchase something.  And if I’ve found a great outfit, challenge myself to make a few more, so I don’t get stuck in a rut.  A second mini surprise is that I love the brighter colors!  I’ve always loved bright, but wearing bright on bright was a new thing for me, and I loved that 🙂

Hardest Thing About The Challenge| Besides the obvious “making outfits towards the end of the challenge”, it was definitely just being comfortable enough to take my picture and put it out there. On days when I was sick or didn’t feel like getting 100% dolled up to take the picture, I still took it, and put it out there for the world to see.  I’m proud of myself for that.

Tip for Someone Wanting to Do Their Own Challenge | The easiest thing for me was, when I was up for it, I took multiple outfit pictures in one day.  That way, if I was having a super busy day, or we were out of town, I wouldn’t be stressed out about taking that day’s OOTD picture.  Plus, I could then work on the blog post in advance.  I just wished I had started doing that earlier in the challenge! I figured this out by, like, Day 20.

So below are all 30 Outfits (can you tell I got better at taking pictures/editing them as time went on??)
