Elizabeth’s 12 Month Update

Elizabeth at 12 MonthsForgive me while I shed a tear.

I’m not normally a sentimental girl. My husband is more likely to save every card he’s ever received, and all of his report cards from school.

But the last few weeks I’ve been all nostalgic, remembering this last year.

I’m sure every new parent says this, but this last year has gone so fast!

Elizabeth turned 1 a few weeks ago. It was such a delightful time spent with family and friends!

Elizabeth at 12 Months

Anyway (I’ve gone all sniffely over here!), instead of my typical one month review, I thought I’d just share some pictures.

But first, some of the things she’s done this month!

  • She is now standing and cruising furniture rather fast. She’s not standing yet without pulling up on something.
  • For whatever reason, her monkey toy is her new favorite, but ONLY if it’s wrapped in a blanket like a baby. It’s pretty precious.
  • Elizabeth enjoys playing in her play room all by herself.
  • She also has become a book lover – she hands me books and wants me to read them to her.
  • Elizabeth is such a gabby girl! (When she’s in the mood for it, anyway)
  • She is also now saying “mama” beyond a whiny “help me!” mode. So that’s nice ūüôā

Her schedule hasn’t changed a whole lot from her 11 month update. I thought she was dropping her first nap, but that turned out to be a hoax. ūüôā

Look at how much she’s changed!! Here are her monthly pictures from the last year!

And finally, here are a few of my favorite pictures from this last year.

Elizabeth’s 11 Month Update

IMG_4679.JPG

Well, my sweet little girl is already 11 months! This time last year, I was waddling around the house. The nursery was pretty much set, I had washed all her clothes, and I was just trying to rest.

Not to mention reading up on how to care for a baby! (I realized I had read tons about labor signs, what it was like to go into labor, etc, but nothing about basic baby care!)

But now we’re just one month away from her big 1 year celebration! I have GOT to get it together and start planning this party….

Here’s what she has been up to this past month!

Height/Weight |¬†I have NO idea what she is. I feel like we haven’t had a doctor’s appointment for so long. (I guess that’s a good thing, right?)

Routine |¬†Elizabeth’s routine is same old, same old.

  • 7:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 7:30am – Play time!
  • 8:00am – Breakfast time
  • 8:30am –¬†Continue to play or Bath time
  • 9:00am –¬†Morning nap
  • 10:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 10:30am – Play time! Or errands.
  • 11:30am – Lunch time
  • 12:oopm – Play time!
  • 1:00pm –¬†Afternoon nap
  • 2:30-3:00pm – Wake up and bottle
  • 3:30pm – Small snack
  • 4:00pm – She plays while I start dinner
  • 4:30pm –¬†Dinner as a family
  • 5:00pm – Play time!
  • 6:00pm – Get ready for bed, and a final bottle.
  • 6:30pm – Lights out and asleep!

Sleeping |¬†Elizabeth is going through phases where she seems like she’s dropping her morning nap, but then she goes right back on track. But other than that, she’s quite the sleeper. I sure hope this continues!

Eating |¬†She loves to eat! I’m surprised by how much she’s packing away. ¬†She has 3 meals a day, and drinks about 6 oz. of formula with each meal. I’ve stopped making her formula in a bottle for 2 of those feedings and am instead giving it to her in her straw cup.

I’m thinking we may also try to give her some real, full milk in a few weeks, just to see what she thinks. Truly, I think she’ll gobble that up. Her favorite foods are cheese (sharp cheddar, feta, mozzarella, doesn’t matter), cheerios, black beans, avocado, eggs, and any fruit (except banana). She also tried those veggie sticks recently, and she loved them!

Sizes |¬†I think I have officially packed away all of her 6 month clothes. And all of her 12 month clothes that looked huge on her last month now fit well. I thought I’d be moving her up to size 4 diapers, but I think we’re good for another month.

Milestones |¬†She’s developing a little personality, no doubt about it!

  • She’s gotten so fast at pulling up to stand. But walking isn’t all that interesting to her.
  • Elizabeth loves being upside down. She’ll even do a downward dog type move. Hilarious!
  • She is becoming a little mischievous one. She knows there are things that she shouldn’t do, but she looks right at me, smiles, and does it anyway. A little stinker ūüôā
  • I also think she does things purposefully to make me laugh.
  • Elizabeth also knows how to shake her head no. At first, I felt bad because I thought I was saying no too much or something negative like that. BUT I think she just started shaking her head back and forth to watch the world spin, and we started saying “no no no” in response to that. Now, when she hears no, she shakes her head around.
  • She loves to clap!
  • She clearly understands what I’m saying. A few days ago, I had her little stuffed monkey sitting next to her. She was looking at a book and I said “Would monkey like to read your book?” and she placed the book on the floor in front of the toy. Then she patted my leg, which I interpreted as “please read this book to us, Mommy!”. My heart melted.
  • The play tunnel I bought at Ikea has become such a great toy!
  • She waves hello, good bye, and good night.
  • Elizabeth learned how to stick her tongue out this week. It’s hilarious!
  • She loves feeding me her food. It was cute at first, but then I got a half eaten Cheerio in my mouth. Gross.
  • Along the same lines, she can hand things to you if you ask.
  • Her gabbing is intense!
  • She still seems to be a little shy when you first take her to a place with lots of people/kids, but she quickly warms up.
  • Elizabeth had her first “baby sitting” experience this week. I started a new Bible study, and there was a baby sitter there. So I dropped her and ran. Apparently she was a ham the whole time! Yay her!

Now, like last month, she was nearly impossible to photograph!!

Elizabeth’s 10 Month Update

20140812-094534-35134105.jpg

Well, I’m just shocked. ¬†How did we get to 10 months already? ¬†I’m already envisioning her as a 6 year old, tearing around the house.

Let’s briefly discuss taking Elizabeth’s 10 Month pictures. ¬†Normally, she’s a little poser. ¬†But this time, all she wanted to do was nosedive off the chair! ¬†I managed to get a few pictures that were sweet.

20140812-094534-35134773.jpg

But it was mostly tears. ¬†Even trying to take selfies where she can see herself didn’t work to cheer her up.

Oh well.  On to her little recap!

Height/Weight | At her most recent doctor’s appointment,¬†she’s¬†17¬†lbs and 27 inches. She’s following her little growth curve perfectly!

Routine |¬†Elizabeth’s routine surprisingly held on during our 2 weeks in Michigan!

  • 7:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 7:30am – Play time!
  • 8:00am – Breakfast time
  • 8:30am –¬†Continue to play or Bath time
  • 9:00am –¬†Morning nap
  • 10:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 10:30am – Play time! Or errands.
  • 11:30am – Lunch time
  • 12:oopm – Play time!
  • 1:00pm –¬†Afternoon nap
  • 2:30-3:00pm – Wake up and bottle
  • 3:30pm – Small snack
  • 4:00pm – She plays while I start dinner
  • 4:30pm –¬†Dinner as a family
  • 5:00pm – Play time!
  • 6:00pm – Get ready for bed, and a final bottle.
  • 6:30pm – Lights out and asleep!

Sleeping | Still sleeping amazing *knock on wood* with a full 12 hours at night, plus two naps.

Eating |¬†She’s drinking about 16 oz of formula via bottle each day (4 4oz bottles). ¬†Meal times have become important now. ¬†Before, she’d just play with her food and nibble a little, but now she’s eating all of her meals. ¬†Her favorite foods are black beans, eggs, avocado, blueberries and corn on the cob.

Sizes |¬†She still is getting use of a few remaining 6 month dresses. ¬†But she’s mainly wearing 9 month onesies and dresses and 12 month PJs and pants. ¬†I also have a feeling we’re on our last box of size 3 diapers before needing to go up a size.

Milestones |¬†I’m exhausted from this last month and all the changes!

  • Elizabeth got much faster at crawling, thanks to chasing after my parents’ dog. ¬†Poor guy….
  • She pulls up to stand on everything now. ¬†Everything. ¬†My coffee table decor is no longer safe.
  • Her new favorite way to smile is squishing up her eyes and nose. ¬†Adorable!
  • Elizabeth loves to explore!
  • She loves to follow me around while doing chores! ¬†I love hearing her little hands slapping the floor as she crawls after me!
  • I’m confident Elizabeth has started singing! ¬†She’s also perfecting her dance moves!
  • She dipped her toes in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time! ¬†And she cried. ¬†But that’s ok – I cried too apparently with my first toe dip at about the same age.
  • Elizabeth had her first flight up to Michigan and did so well!
  • She became best friends with a dog.
  • She started cruising furniture a little bit, and she also likes to walk if you hold her hands.
  • I’ve had to rearrange a few lower kitchen cabinets because she rummages ūüôā
  • We’ve finally got a tooth! ¬†She has one bottom tooth so far, and looks like there are more to come. ¬†Thankfully, the teething doesn’t seem to bother her.
  • She gabs a lot! ¬†And she definitely says “Dada” in reference to Daddy! ¬†But she also just says “dadada” when she’s happy and “mamamama” when she’s in distress. ¬†Sigh….
  • Elizabeth LOVES books!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from over the last month! ¬†The picture at top left is when she pulled to stand in her crib just a few days ago! ¬†She was pretty proud ūüôā

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

TGIF!  I hope you had a FAB week!

Here’s what I was¬†up to the last few days:

1.¬†Over the 4th weekend, we decided to go for a hike at a mountain. ¬†BIG mistake. ¬†We were so pooped by the time it was over, thanks to the super hot weather, and the fact that we were climbing…. a mountain. ¬†We had to get burritos because of it.

2. I’ve been busy prepping food to feed a small army. It’s meals for the husband when I travel up to Michigan for my sister’s wedding next week. (Speaking of wedding, did you see my last minute post this week on fun bridal shower gift ideas?) ¬†He’ll be home by himself for a week before he joins us up north. ¬†He’ll probably eat out a few days, but he needs some real food. ¬†Stay tuned for a future Menu Monday where I talk about my favorite make ahead meals.

3.¬†Today is Elizabeth’s 9 month birthday!!! I can’t believe she’s at the 9 month mark already. ¬†If you didn’t read Wednesday’s update post, do! ¬†Here’s a picture preview – a collage of Elizabeth at 1, 3, 6 and 9 months!

4. We had our favorite dinner on Monday – Kale, Black Bean and Avocado Burrito Bowls. ¬†So yummy! ¬†And the leftovers last forever. ¬†AND it’s baby friendly! ¬†Win-Win-Win!

5. As you read, we are currently visiting family in Virginia Beach!  I love visiting my in-laws!

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below! ¬†Have a great weekend!

Elizabeth’s 9 Month Update!

20140707-095916-35956983.jpgElizabeth is 9 months (well technically on Friday… but who cares)! ¬†That’s a milestone ūüôā For kicks, here is the little Bean at 1, 3, 6 and 9 months!

20140707-141611-51371423.jpgIsn’t that a hoot??? She’s changed so much! ¬†Anywho, here’s what she’s been up to for the last month!

Height/Weight |¬†She was at the doctor a few weeks ago because she was sick, but they didn’t measure her! ¬†But her weight was 16.2 lbs. ¬†She’s following her little growth curve perfectly!

Routine | Elizabeth is starting to SLIGHTLY change her routine.

  • 7:00am – Wake up and bottle.
  • 7:30am – Play time!
  • 8:00am – Breakfast time – usually oatmeal and applesauce or a yogurt with fruit.
  • 8:30am – If it’s Monday, Wednesday or Friday, we do a bath. ¬†Leaning back to rinse her head is still “scary”…. when does that end?
  • 9:00am – Down for first nap of the day, and usually finishes off whatever was left in her bottle.
  • 10:00am – Wake up, and then bottle.
  • 10:30am – Play time! Or errands.
  • 11:30am – Lunch time – I’ll eat with her, so sometimes it’s leftovers from dinner, or I make some eggs!
  • 12:30pm – Down for the afternoon nap, and finishes whatever was left in her bottle.
  • 2:30-3:00pm – Wake up and bottle.
  • 3:30pm – Small snack – usually something pre-done (like puffs, or teething biscuit)
  • 4:00pm – She plays while I start dinner.
  • 5:00pm – Husband’s usually home by now, and we all three sit down for dinner.
  • 6:00pm – Get ready for bed! ¬†She changes into jammies, and gets her final bottle.
  • 6:30pm – Lights out and asleep!

Sleeping | Still sleeping amazing *knock on wood* with a full 12 hours at night, plus two naps. Her morning nap is getting shorter, and only lasts between 1-1.5 hours.  But her afternoon nap is longer.

Eating |¬†She’s started pushing away her bottle after drinking 4 oz. ¬†That’s why we’ve had to start her on 3 square meals a day. ¬†She’ll usually drink another 2 oz., though, before her nap. ¬†Her favorite foods right now are avocado, yogurt, black beans, corn, peaches and pasta.

Sizes |¬†HA! This child is currently using clothes in 3 different sizes. ¬†She’s wearing 6 month onesies and dresses, 9 month pants, and 12 month pajamas. ¬†At least I’m getting a lot of use out of those 6 month clothes!

Milestones | This last month was hilarious!  On her 8 month birthday, she just started ticking them all off the list!

  • Elizabeth started crawling on her 8 month birthday! It was only a few steps, but she soon got speedy! ¬†Now she just zooms around!
  • Every place in the house is a new adventure – she is obsessed with the dining room.
  • She is starting to pull to stand now. ¬†Over the weekend, she pulled to stand in her crib. ¬†Had to snap a picture!
  • Elizabeth tried a veggie pattie for the first time… not sure if that’s baby appropriate, but she loved it!
  • She loves books! ¬†We have a bin full of books, and she crawls over and starts pulling them out. ¬†She especially loves finger puppet books.
  • Elizabeth also enjoys knocking down towers ūüôā
  • We both love playing peek-a-boo around the coffee table. ¬†Now that she crawls, we peek around at one another!
  • She started babbling a bit more, instead of her typical “aaaahhhh”. ¬†She started saying baa baa baa and dadadadadada.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from over the last month! ¬†The picture at top left is when she pulled to stand in her crib just a few days ago! ¬†She was pretty proud ūüôā
